About Viatical Settlements

Viatical settlements, sometimes called viaticals, are similar to life settlements where the sale of a life insurance policy takes place in exchange for payment. Viatical settlements are most commonly used for a terminally-ill person and have risen in popularity with the rise of AIDs cases over the years.

Viatical settlements are an important financial option to many terminally-ill persons. By selling a life insurance policy, one can decrease the financial burden brought on by increased medical costs and loss of worker salary due to disease or illness.

Specifically, viactical settlements allow one to fund the payment of treatments that may not be covered by healthcare insurance and to pay off debts now rather than burdening family in the future.
